In accordance with the Government’s requirements for all Governing Boards, the three strategic functions of Upshire's Governing Board are:-
Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
Holding the Head teacher to account for the educational performance of the school and it’s pupils
Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent
Our Governing Board consists of 12 members who have o have the skills and expertise required to contribute to the effective governance and success of the school.
Our Plans for 2018/2019
As identified in the School Development Plan (SDP), our focus for the strategic development of the school will be:
Raising attainment and progress in reading
Improving attendance across the school
Governor attendance is good and any absences are explained and accepted by the Governing Board. There is a good level of commitment shown by all members of the governing body. A full list of governor attendance is available on the school’s website.
The Governing Board annually performs a skills audit of its members and carries out a Governing Boardy self-review and evaluation.
We always welcome suggestions, feedback and ideas from parents – please contact the Chair of Governors, Mr Simon Fletcher, via the Clerk.
Please see the information on the Role of a Governing Board which is available on our Governors' Page.
