School Council

At Upshire our children have an important role to play in issues that affect the children themselves. A School Council is one way of ensuring that the voice of the children is heard, has an impact on the development of the school and makes them feel part of the school and the wider community.

Two representatives from Year 3 to Year 6 are elected by their peers and they represent the views and ideas of all our pupils.

The School Council meets with the Deputy Headteacher, members of the Governing Body and the PTA.

Our School Council Governor is Mr Simon Fletcher.

We are Freddie and Maisy the two senior members of the School Council.  We represented our classes last year.  This year we interviewed the children who were nominated by their classes, along with Mrs Gritton.  It was a difficult decision to make, however after deliberation and discussion we selected the following children:

  • Year 3 Councillors are Keira and Eniz
  • Year 4 Councillors are Charlie and Isabella
  • Year 5 Councillors are Ellie and Samuel
  • Year 6 Councillors are Joe and Charlotte as well as us!

We enjoy representing our classes on the School Council.  This year we have had a huge impact at lunchtimes.  We have changed the lunchtime provision so that we have more space, more equipment, more activities and lots of fun.  We have recently selected the apparatus for our new Adventure Trail, which will be installed soon.  Watch this space . . . surprise
