Early Birds Breakfast
Our breakfast club is available for children at Upshire Primary Foundation School. The club is based in the school hall and is the ideal place to leave your children in the morning before school.
The club is open from 7.30am until the start of school Monday to Friday during term time only.
We are flexible to meet your needs:
- bookings can be on a regular or on an ad hoc basis and all sessions must be booked and paid for in advance;
- children can attend any number of days a week from 7.30am.
The cost of the club from 7.30am is £5.40 per session.
We also run an Early Adopters Breakfast session which starts at 8.10am until the start of school and is free of charge.
Please ensure that you book your child in for sessions via Parentmail – it is essential that we have sufficient staffing and resources.
The Breakfast Club aims:
- to support working parents by providing high quality services which meet the needs of both parents/carers and children;
- to provide a reliable, safe, supportive and welcoming environment where children can play, have fun, relax and be with friends;
- to offer the children the opportunity of having a healthy breakfast at the start of the school day.
The Breakfast Club will provide:
- a healthy breakfast with a choice of cereal or toast (some days, instead of toast there will be either pancakes or bagels) plus a choice of fruit juice, milk or water
- activities after breakfast – such as drawing, board games, crafts, play or a quiet area where the children can work if they wish;
- respect for any dietary, religious or medical requirements;
- a high standard of care in a secure and supportive environment. We want children to feel relaxed and happy before starting the school day;
- opportunities to support learning (by helping with homework and reading);
- caring and qualified supervisory staff.
Staffing
There are two Breakfast Club Assistants, both have an enhanced CRB, are First Aiders and have a certificate in Food Hygiene.
Routine
Children should arrive at 7.30am; no responsibility will be taken for children arriving before this time. Entrance to the club via the hall doors leading on to the school car park. Please ensure that you take your child into the club and sign them in. Staff and deliveries will be using the car park from 7.30am, so please take care when walking through the car park.
Children will remain in the care of the club staff until their staggered start time. Key Stage 1 children will be escorted to their classrooms, whilst Key Stage 2 children will be allowed to make their own way to their classrooms.
Numbers are limited to ensure a safe adult:child ratio, so please ensure that your child’s place is booked in advance.
You will also be required to complete a Registration Form and comply with the Club’s Terms & Conditions.
We are working in partnership with the Afterschool Club to provide wraparound care before and after school from 7.30am to 5.45pm during the school term.
Bookings and payment must be made in advance and via the ParentMail booking system. Please also ensure that a registration form is completed. You can find a copy at the bottom of this page or speak to the school office.
