School Council

Very proud of our school councillors and ambassadors today, the feedback from parents and visitors about your enthusiasm, manners and knowledge when showing them around our exhibition was TERRIFIC!

The school council and ambassadors met with Ms Mallard to discuss how together we can become better at recycling.

Great feedback about how polite, conscientious and articulate our school councillors and ambassadors were from our catering company. You contributed very well to the meeting when feeding back the views of your peers about school dinners, keep up the great work!
Well done to the school councillors and our ambassadors, who have successfully made great community links with Paternoster House. The residents have throughly enjoyed reading and playing games with them too!

At Upshire our children have an important role to play in issues that affect the children themselves. A School Council is one way of ensuring that the voice of the children is heard, has an impact on the development of the school and makes them feel part of the school and the wider community.

Two representatives from Year 3 to Year 6 are elected by their peers and they represent the views and ideas of all our pupils.

The School Council meets with the Deputy Headteacher, members of the Governing Body and the PTA.

Our School Council Governor is Mr Simon Fletcher.

We are Samuel and Ellie the school Ambassadors.  We represented our class in the School Council last year.  This year we interviewed the children who were nominated by their classes, along with Mrs Gritton.  It was a difficult decision to make, however after deliberation and discussion we selected the following children:

  • Year 3 Councillors are Cameron and Shayla
  • Year 4 Councillors are Kaia and Reggie
  • Year 5 Councillors are Freddie and Taryn
  • Year 6 Councillors are Faustina and Jakai

We enjoyed representing our classes on the School Council.  Last year we had a huge impact at lunchtimes.  We changed the lunchtime provision so that we have more space, more equipment, more activities and lots of fun.  We also selected the apparatus for our new Adventure Trail, which was installed in the Summer Term.
